We, iranians, have a greate deal of nostalgy for the lost empire. 1400 years ago we collapsed and since then we are trying to regain our greatness.
What is civilizaton? Is cyrus more important than Hafez? Is Darius more important than sohrab sepehri!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't think so. Civilizations are judged by are, economy, culture and the least important by their military might.
PEOPLE! get real, its 2007, we are a 3rd world country. Koorosh is dead ahmadi nejad is us today!

Are we racists?
Persians during time were known as a peacfule multicultural and very internationalist nation. Far before united states exists, Iranians had started world's first multicultural civilization.
Just like most of other signs of that great civilization, Iranians today have lost that sense of multiculturalism. Far right views have run so deep n our nation and we are so ignorant of them that is becoming to get scary. Our society today is getting more and more similar to that of germans in 1930s. We have started a nuclear program clearly aimed at building the bomb, just like germans and their unlawful arming of the wermacht. Our "Basij", equivalant of ..., is controling the cities and we are branding our enemies as ...
Far beyond our extreme right religious view, the so called oposition has become even more racist than ever. They are calling our rulling parties "Arabs" and "Tazies", practically denying that iranians are rulling iranians! Anti semitic feelings, wether it is against Arabs or Jews, is running so deep in our society that we see it as legitimate. Oppositions is accusing arabs of destroying our civilization, burning books and our forced conversion to islam. Ignorant of the fact that we, Iranians, have given up on reading for quite a while, and people killed 1400 years ago are not our grandpas and gradmas! we rather accuse arabs for our situation today than ourselves.
In my personal opinion, No nation has stayed in such a strong state of denial for so long ever in the history. It's about the time for us to realize that this is all because of our own choices. We need to step up and take issues in our own hands.
