On Ari Shavit's "My Promised Land"
I had high hopes for Ari Shavit's book. I thought it would be a liberal take on the situation. I understand his affection for his home and country, but when it comes to the "other" people in the land, he just gives a nod and then moves onto how they seemingly live in a different world even if they are citizens of the same country, let alone those who are living on an occupied land without any country!
I expected more acknowledgement, more sympathy. I feel if I would have read the book instead of listening to the audio book, then my view Ari's work would have been even more bleak. As much as I enjoyed the history and understanding a bit more of psyche of the people, I find it astonishing that he sounds so approving of Netanyahu and his cabinet especially at the height of tensions in 2012-2013.
Overall a good book, even though for me he too ignores the plight of Palestinians over the past 70 years. I don't accept a nod of "I know you are in pain" as enough from a liberal.

#BadStand-upRoutine
The only way I could be with her is that this was 10,000 years ago, I would have hit her in the head and drag her into my cave!

400 Post in 7 Years
Dehydrated is my neglected child! I love you for being the worst diary anyone could possibly have! You are a portrait of not my achievements, but of my boredom! When I started writing you, I still had hair!
Keep going mediocre my friend!
